Secure-Enclave Distributed Ledger Technology (SDLT)
Confidential. Scalable. Ready for the future.
Distributed Ledger Innovation
Since 2018, Secretarium has been at the forefront of distributed ledger innovation, pushing the boundaries of what decentralised systems can achieve. Our platform is powered by third generation Secure-Enclave Distributed Ledger Technology (SDLT), leveraging Confidential Computing to deliver breakthrough levels of privacy and performance. Trust in digital systems should never come at the expense of performance and privacy.

Trusted By Industry Leaders
Our technology is trusted by industry leaders including Thales, major financial institutions, the Bank of England and other central banks exploring central bank digital currencies (CBDC). It was also chosen by Swiss commodity traders for one of the very first use case of Real World Asset (RWA) tokenisation, primary and secondary trading.
Why Choose Secure-Enclave Distributed Ledger Technology (SDLT)?
SDLT is a radical shift from the traditional DLTs, combining the security of Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) with the integrity of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). This new paradigm unlocks trust, performance, and interoperability like never before.
Key Features of SDLT
Blockchain inspired
Similar to Ethereum, Secretarium's SDLT leverages Merkle trees to store data in tamper-proof ledgers. While inspired by blockchain, SDLT uses a “logchain”, not blocks, enabling instantaneous data distribution without the inefficiencies and latency of traditional block-based systems.
Consensus Mechanism
The platform runs on a Byzantine Fault-Tolerant Raft (BFT-RAFT) consensus algorithm, running inside the TEEs. This ensures instant final execution, high availability, and business continuity.
Remote Attestation
External entities can remotely verify the authenticity of smart contracts with their unique measurement. This critical feature is essential for establishing trust that the right piece of code runs on a genuine and unaltered node.
Permissioning Options
SDLT can operate as a public, private, or permissioned network. The use of TEEs and always encrypted data turns the traditional governance issues of DLTs on its head. There are no significant benefits to controlling or running a node;, trust instead comes from fully verifiable secure hardware.
Key Functionality
Smart contracts and applications run with guaranteed integrity and privacy. Thanks to integrated TEEs, SDLT contracts can securely access external data without third-party oracles, and connect natively to web2 and web3 systems.
Built-In Security
Data remains encrypted at all times – at rest, in transit, and during processing. The platform uses Intel SGX self-generated and managed keys to secure data and smart contract intellectual property.
Additional Capabilities
SDLT goes beyond traditional DLT platforms with features designed for modern, responsive systems. Out of the box, the platform supports:
These capabilities enable seamless integration into dynamic environments where low latency, responsiveness, and interoperability are essential.
Real-time execution
Subscriptions
Push notifications
Secure external system comms
WASM smart contracts
Technical Trust Instead of Nash Equilibrium
Trust between nodes on Secretarium's platform is established through a combination of cryptographic techniques and secure hardware. The platform uses Intel SGX for secure computations and remote attestation, ensuring that nodes can verify each other's integrity.
How Trust is Established Across the Network:
Mutual SGX Attestation
Nodes perform mutual attestation to verify each other's identity and integrity.
Signed and Encrypted Messages
Communications between nodes are signed and encrypted to ensure security and authenticity.
Log Journal
Transactions are recorded in an immutable log journal, with entries authenticated through cryptographic chaining.
Governance
The platform is governed by rules and protocols that ensure data integrity and confidentiality, with compliance enforced through cryptographic proofs and attestation.
Secure, Privacy-Preserving Access to Data
Secretarium's SDLT facilitates access to data while ensuring privacy and security. Smart contracts can embed controlled data disclosure logic, allowing authorised parties such as issuers, regulators, and investors to access metrics and insight in a privacy-preserving manner. This is achieved through verifiable confidential computing and privacy techniques that ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
Seamless Interoperability with Legacy & DLT Systems
Secretarium's SDLT can easily link to legacy or other DLT platforms. Via secure communication protocols, APIs, and light clients, Secretarium supports interoperability with legacy systems, web services, and other DLTs — ensuring smooth data exchange across platforms.
Digital Asset Issuance, Redefined
The digital security issuance steps using our platform involve the following processes:
1.
Issuance Preparation
The issuer prepares the digital security issuance by defining the terms and conditions, including the security type, issuance size, and other relevant details.
2.
Smart Contract Deployment
A smart contract is deployed on the platform to manage the issuance process, ensuring that the terms and conditions are enforced.
3.
Digital Security Recording
The digital security is issued and recorded on the ledger, ensuring immutability and transparency.
4.
Distribution & Trading
The digital security is distributed to investors, with the platform supporting secondary market trading and other post-issuance services.
5.
Real-time Transaction Support
Since the SDLT facilitates instantaneous transactions, it supports order books and matching engines.
6.
The entire process is fully customisable, with seamless integration into external systems for KYC/AML and any other regulatory or compliance requirements.
Built for Real-World Finance
Fully Programmable Payment, Settlement, and Custody Models.
Flexible Payment Integration
Our SDLT can interop with traditional payment systems, stablecoins, and is ready for seamless integration with central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) as they become available.
Smart Settlement Processes
Easily integrates with settlement agents and leverages smart contracts to automate the entire settlement lifecycle — ensuring speed, transparency, and compliance.
Secure Custody Models
Offers a full spectrum of custody models, including self-custody, shared custody (multi-sig, MPC), and third-party custody. All protected by confidential computing to prevent unauthorised access.
Built-In Resilience By Design
Secretarium's platform is engineered for continuity, even under stress. Redundancy and replication across multiple nodes ensure no single point of failure, protecting against data loss and guaranteeing high availability.
Our Byzantine Fault-Tolerant Raft (BFT-RAFT) consensus algorithm provides robust fault tolerance, maintaining the integrity of transactions and seamless operation even in adverse conditions.
All communications are protected by the Secretarium Connection Protocol (SCP), ensuring secure and authenticated communications between nodes and participants.
The platform is continuously maintained with proactive updates and patching, addressing both hardware and software vulnerabilities to uphold operational resilience.
Why Secretarium?
